CONNECTING A SMALL WORLD

IT'S A SMALL WORLD

Connecting a Small World was a puzzle game based on It's a Small World, the popular Walt Disney attraction.

BACKSTORY

In 2010, Jason 'gigapede' Siadek and Michael Borys from 3Pin Media reached out to me to create a fun and educational advertisement promoting a special event at Disney Resorts. The event was sponsored by Sylvania & Siemens, who were giving the iconic white lights outside the It's a Small World ride a colorful overhaul.

Beyond just celebrating the new lighting, the project had a deeper purpose:
• Educate guests on the energy efficiency of Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFLs).
• Provide a simple introduction to circuitry and electricity.
• Deliver a fun, engaging, and rewarding experience for 7-11-year-olds.

To achieve this, we created an interactive game using Adobe Flash (now Adobe Animate) & ActionScript. The objective? Rewire the lights of It's a Small World before a fuse blew! The player started at a source point and had to connect circuits to all CFLs before the timer ran out. Once the circuit was complete, they could send voltage through the line and watch the dazzling lights illuminate in vibrant colors!

For this project, I was responsible for game visuals, animations, and programming, ensuring that everything looked great, felt intuitive, and ran smoothly.
