POP'N'PINKY

(PROTOTYPE)

Pop'n'Pinky was a prototype similar to Pac-Man.

BACKSTORY

While working on Super Size Me's Burgerman, I found myself feeling a bit frustrated; my role was to focus on drawing and animating characters and items, but I had a strong urge to try my hand at coding something similar in ActionScript. I had only recently started learning ActionScript, but one of my biggest dreams was to be able to create video games entirely on my own - from start to finish. I kept thinking, "I can do this too!" That motivation led me to create my own prototype, which ended up running surprisingly well.

The game featured an interesting mechanic: depending on your performance, you could unlock either the regular exit or a secret extra exit that led to a bonus stage, adding an extra layer of challenge and reward.

Fun fact: This prototype also marked the very first appearance of Pinky, a character who would go on to star in many of my future games and prototypes - including the award-winning Bubble Islands!

Fun fact: Pinky appeared on stage, glowing with a luminous halo - like he had just been beamed down from heaven itself.
